** Ethics for court reporters are set by the NCRA.  Clearly, a court reporter is a neutral party in any proceeding.  Our firm chooses to take that a bit further.  We don’t give rate breaks to anyone but governmental agencies we have contracted with.  Out-of-town/out-of-state attorneys receive the same service as the local attorney.  We don’t raise our rates for one-time clients and we don’t charge extra to appear in court or transcribe court proceedings.  Our rates are clear and easy to understand -- no hidden costs or extra fees for services that should be expected by every attorney.
